Try a Yoga Nidra: A 15-Minute Practice

If you are curious about yoga nidra or simply need to take a pause in your day, I invite you to try this short guided practice. This recording is designed to support a sense of courage and inner strength and can be practiced at any time of the day.

How to prepare

Find a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed and settle into a "rest nest." Make yourself truly comfortable - ideally lying down with a blanket and a pillow, though a supported seated position works perfectly too. When you are ready, simply press play and follow the sound of my voice.

A note on resting

There is no "right" way to experience this. If you are worried about drifting off, feel free to set a gentle alarm for 20 minutes. This allows you to let go completely, knowing you will be called back when you are ready.

  • "The monthly yoga nidra is an amazing way to decompress."

    — Mark

  • "Was very relaxing and felt emotionally better after the class."

    — Caroline

  • "...relaxation sessions at the end are also wonderful to leave you calm and refreshed."

    — Gabbie

What to Expect

  • We begin by settling in and creating our cosy rest nests with blankets, pillows and props to ensure that you feel comfortable and supported ready for the yoga nidra.

  • There will be around 45 minutes of guided yoga nidra with voice, koshi bells (chimes), poetry, and moments of silence.

  • There will be lots of time to come around after the yoga nidra to externalise your awareness and ensure that you are grounded before leaving the session.

  • We’ll have herbal tea and sweet treats (e.g. chocolate) after the practice in community. Let me know if you have any dietary requirements so that I can plan.

Get in touch
  • Yoga nidra, or “yogic sleep”, is a deeply restful guided meditation, usually practised lying down. It’s a space between waking and sleeping – a state of calm awareness where the body can unwind, and the mind can gently settle.

  • Bring whatever helps you get super comfortable:

    • Mat

    • Blankets

    • Pillow

    • Bolster (if you have one)

    • Wear warm layers (the body temperature tends to cool during deep rest)

Optional: a journal for notes or sketches after the practice.

A few mats, blocks and blankets are available to borrow.

  • Not at all. Yoga nidra is an accessible practice - no prior experience with yoga or meditation is required because there’s no “right” way to do it.

Whether you feel deeply relaxed, drift off, or simply rest quietly, it’s all perfect. The practice meets you exactly where you are.

  • You might, and that’s okay! Some people drift in and out, others stay awake. However you experience it, you’ll receive the benefits.

  • There are many benefits of practicing yoga nidra, which include:

    • Improve sleep

    • Reduce stress & anxiety

    • Calm the nervous system

    • Support emotional balance

    • Boost creativity

  • Yes, classes are tailored to all levels, including complete beginners. If you are thinking about trying yoga for the first time, you are very welcome to join.

Before the session, you’ll be asked to complete a confidential health questionnaire online via a link to Google Forms. If it is not possible to submit this online you can complete a paper copy at your first class. You are free to decide what, and how much, information you share, but please note the disclaimer – you are responsible for your own health if you do not disclose.

  • Of course! If you’re unsure about attending, please don’t hesitate to reach out by emailing me. I’m happy to answer your questions via email or arrange a phone chat to discuss further.

Every yoga teacher and class is unique, and it’s important to find the right fit for you. If my classes don’t feel like the right match, don’t be discouraged - it might just mean exploring a different style or teacher to find what works best for you.
